Connect
Real-Time Marine Pilot Information
Connect is specifically designed to serve two main purposes: gathering data from multiple source providers and providing a centralized access point for the end user, Qastor.
Description
The user of Qastor is simply required to select the appropriate server, streamlining the user experience. Meanwhile, the configuration of data sources can be conveniently managed in a centralized manner on the server itself. This means that administrators or designated individuals can configure and customize the data sources according to specific requirements without the need for individual user involvement. The centralized configuration capability simplifies the process and ensures efficient management of the data sources within Connect. With its modular plugin design, Connect has been specifically engineered to facilitate the seamless integration of new data modalities and formats.
The interaction between Connect and Qastor encompasses both static and dynamic data modalities. Static modalities consist of items such as charts, routes, mooring lines, and user profiles. These elements provide essential information that remains relatively constant over time. On the other hand, dynamic modalities encompass real-time data sources that are subject to change. Examples of dynamic modalities include vessel traffic (VTS) information, meteorological data and under keel (UKC) data providers. These sources continuously provide updated information, allowing Qastor to access timely and accurate data for decision-making and operational purposes.
