OceanBeam S5

Multibeam Echo Sounder System

OceanBeam S5 is a broadband shallow water multi-beam sounder system with proven ultra-high-performance records from its users in ocean science research (seabed topographic survey), marine construction and engineering.

Description

Features:

• Wideband 190kHz – 420kHz

• FM & CW Processing

• Beam Widths to 0.5°×0.75°

• Selectable swath 3° to 150°

• Sounding Depth to 550m

• Roll and Pitch stabilization

S5’s working frequency is optional between 190 kHz and 420 kHz, targeted to meet the need of both depth and accuracy.

Supported by its roll stability and pitch stability functions, S5 can efficiently reduce real-time sounding errors caused by navigation posture. Open angles of the sonar can be easily adjusted between 3 ° and 150 ° to fine measure terrains in particular zones. The sonar head can also be installed at a tilt to side scan the terrains of dykes, bridge piers and obstacles.

S5’s sonar head is made of titanium alloy, which combines the transmitting array and receiving array in a "T" structure. Its system interface module (SIM) has multiple input and output interfaces, connecting the sonar head with other sensors (SVS, IMU, GNSS) to SIM.

Its embedded display control software and navigation data acquisition software support a user-friendly working interface, allowing the user to easily pre-set and reset sonar parameters, sonar images, real-time depth information and data format of other sensors. The navigation data acquisition software also provides the user with an interface to control measurement process and sounding data acquisition.

Data transmission and commands execution are completed via an embedded Gigabit Ethernet in the sonar head and SIM. The SIM provides a 48V DC power supply and real-time information from auxiliary sensors to the sonar head. The sonar head receives commands, transmits acoustic waves, receives echoes, and preprocesses the acoustic data, including timestamp marking, and then transfers the data to the SIM for the graphic-control software to further process and display.
