DEMCON USV
Autonomous Operations
Our flagship is the full electric Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) for inland, coastal and shallow water operations. The platform is developed based on technical and functional survey user requirements. This resulted in an survey tool that matches and outperforms existing small manned survey vessels. The novel “Vessel Positioning System” (patent pending) and mission planner enable operators to safely plan and execute autonomous (BVLOS) missions with full control over the system.
Description
100% electric autonomous Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) for shallow-, inland- and coastal water (sweat and salt) operations. Fully developed in house by DEMCON Unmanned Systems together with development partner and launching customer Van Oord for maritime system requirements.
The platform is developed based on technical and functional survey user functionalities. This resulted in a survey tool that matches and outperforms existing small manned survey vessels. With a novel “Vessel Positioning System” (patent pending) and mission planner enabling operators to safely plan and execute autonomous (BVLOS) missions with full control over the system.
Due to the standardized system technology and in-house development, the USV is a scalable platform that can be modified and customised for different use cases besides surveying. Think amongst others of applications for Safety & Security, logistics, transport and infrastructural purposes.
- Multi payload: Up to 130 kg capacity on deck hatch, adjustable bridge and in the moonpool brackets for different above water and sub-surface sensors, equipment or other payloads.
- Collision Avoidance: Passive and active collision avoidance solutions based on mission path planner prior knowledge and (optical) perception sensor input.
- Rim driven technology: brushless electric motors with low noise emissions, powerful and smooth direct drive, minimal parts (no gearbox), no propeller shaft (no clutter/ entanglement by debris (like ropes)) and only hydro lubrication.
- Vessel Positioning System: Novel dynamic positioning system with no rudder and fixed propellors (patent pending) providing full control over the vessel movements in any direction (holonomic), increasing safety (accurate position hold) and making the system low in maintenance.
- Deploy ability: Equipped with a simple launch & recovery system (LARS) for easy deployment in different scenario’s and environments.
- Advanced mission planner: Simplified work planning functionalities for efficient in-field execution (uploading drawings (.KML), pre-setting autonomous missions and safety boundaries (geo-fences).
- Unsinkable: Robust in-house designed aluminium hull with watertight hatches and bulkheads shielding the critical system components and payloads.
- Sustainable system: 100% electric, silent, chemical liquids/ lubricant free ensuring minimal impact on the environment and marine life.
- Remote operations: shore support centre integrations for remote monitoring and BVLOS system operations controlled from anywhere in the world.
- Full customization: The system can be customized to specific customer technical and functional requirements. From vessel size, functionalities to payloads and peripherals.
