Prosafe Maximises Uptime Whilst Minimising Risk Using Cloud-Integrated Miros RangeFinders

Prosafe used two Cloud-integrated Miros RangeFinders to boost operability and reduce risk when one of their accommodation vessels, Regalia, was connected to a host installation. Background

Prosafe owns and operates the largest and most versatile fleet of semi-submersible accommodation vessels in the world.

When positioned alongside host installations, the vessels connect by means of a telescopic gangway, allowing personnel to transfer safely between the structures.

The Challenge

The Prosafe-owned Regalia, an accommodation vessel with a capacity for more than 300 staff, was on location in the North Sea, using its 38-metre-long gangway to connect to a host installation.

With harsh weather conditions occurring frequently in the region, key performance indicators associated with maintaining connectivity within given limits were often put under pressure.

Prosafe’s goal was to maximise gangway uptime using historical data, thereby ensuring the client was able to plan effectively.

The Solution

The Miros RangeFinder provides real-time measurements of an air gap, water level, draught and wave measurements, delivered directly to the Cloud.

Using two such sensors, with data displayed in a custom-built interface reflecting their needs, Prosafe was able to monitor relevant sea state parameters continuously.

By removing uncertainty from their operations, and monitoring conditions as they developed, Prosafe was able to avoid premature disconnections.
