EchoRange+™ 30 / 200 kHz Smart™ Sensor
Ultrasonic marine depth and temperature sensor
The EchoRange+™ 30/200 kHz Smart™ Sensor is an ultrasonic underwater depth and temperature sensor capable of operation at either 30 kHz or 200 kHz. It transfers its gathered NMEA 0183 data in real time to a computer via the RS422 standard.
Description
The EchoRange+™ 30/200 kHz Smart™ Sensor is an ultrasonic underwater depth and temperature sensor capable of operation at either 30 kHz or 200 kHz. It transfers its gathered NMEA 0183 data in real time to a computer via the RS422 standard. With embedded transceivers, sophisticated digital signal processing, and user-configurable depth range and ping rate resolution, it is ideal for applications such as inspection and hydrographic surveying.
An OEM-exclusive Echo Envelope Developer Option is included. This provides a secondary transmit-only interface with a proprietary protocol using RS485, and allows users to obtain detailed echo envelope data which can be displayed as an analog waveform. Analysis of this data provides information about the seafloor type.
Single frequency EchoRange™ 200 kHz Smart™ Sensor with stainless steel housing also available.

Exclusive to OEM's only - Echo Envelope Developer Option:In addition to the bi-directional NMEA 0183 interface, a secondary transmit only interface with a proprietary protocol using RS485 is available to OEMs. The user can obtain detailed echo envelope data which may be displayed as an analog waveform. The echo envelope is a 900-point time-series of the echo amplitude. By analyzing the shape of the echo envelope, information indicative of the seafloor type is revealed.
Distinguishable features
Airmar's patented Smart™ sensors feature embedded microelectronics that process depth and temperature inside the sensor that can be displayed on any device that accepts NMEA data. EchoRange transfers NMEA 0183 data in real time to a computer via RS422.
