ATL 102S V3

The ATL 102S V3 oblique camera uses a mechanical cradle with five cameras in fixed positions in a cross configuration; a camera in the center is surrounded by four other cameras spaced evenly at 90 degrees: front, back, left, and right. This system positions the central camera at an oblique angle, with the nadir vertical angle (the point directly below the camera at ground level) at a known, fixed point in the image.

Description

Images captured with an angled camera (ATL 102S V3) show details that would be obscured by foliage or tall buildings in the vertical view.

Oblique photography makes it easier to accurately determine the height of objects compared to vertical aerial photography. Unlike an orthographic shot, where the central camera looks straight down, the oblique system captures much more relative elevation data in front of it.
This also avoids lens distortion in all directions around the focal point, which often occurs with the orthographic method.
