Pavemetrics 3D Visions Systems for the Automated Pavement Inspection

Cities and Counties need accurate pavement condition data for their road network every year as an input into their pavement maintenance planning process. However, the inspection process is often time-consuming and entirely manual with Engineers hitting the streets on foot to visually inspect and record distress information manually. Mobile Mapping Systems fail to meet this need because LiDAR-based inspections do not have sufficient resolution and accuracy to meet industry standards. As well, data processing is typically manual and requires the user to have pavement engineering-based knowledge. Pavemetrics® LCMS®-4M MMS pavement sensor addon solves this problem by combining 3D triangulation technology with a fully automated workflow for reporting standards-compliant pavement condition scores ready for upload into city and county Pavement Management Systems (PMS).

Fully Automated Standards-Compliant Workflow

Pavemetrics® has developed a fully automated workflow that generates industry-standard condition ratings ready for use in your, or your client’s, pavement management software (PMS).

Automated detection and quantification includes: cracking (including sealed), rutting, potholes, patches, pavement markings and manholes and storm drains.

Detailed results are reported along with PMS-ready overall condition scores according to the PASER and the PSCI standards. File output formats include JPEG, SHP (for GIS integration) and XML.

Simple to Deploy and Efficient to Use

The LCMS-4M is a single-sensor solution that can be easily added to your existing MMS platform and can receive positioning data from your existing GNSS and DMI (if equipped).

Operation is designed to avoid impact to existing mobile mapping operations and data collection speeds up to 95km/h (60mph) are supported, day or night.

Lane coverage is a full 4 meters (13.2 feet) and is fully compliant with the industry best practice of one pass per direction for pavement condition rating.
