Introduction to ADCP Data

Trainer: Darryl Symonds, Consultant Date: June 17, 2021 Time: 10:00am - 11:00am EDT (2:00pm - 3:00pm) GMT This session will introduce a user to what can be seen in an ADCP data set.  We will discuss the types of data that are recorded by the ADCP and review sample data sets.  This will be a refresher session that will be useful for both new and experienced users.  As a follow up to this session, we will be creating a series of short tutorials throughout the summer of 2021 for on demand viewing. These recorded sessions will allow users to understand how to use Teledyne RDI’s software to open a file, review data, QA the data, utilize the software to zoom-in/out, and capture data and features for reports.  We will also share how and why RDI’s customers are utilizing their ADCPs to tackle a variety of applications (i.e. offshore oil,  in a river, in coastal settings, in open ocean, and from a vehicle).  Where possible reference materials will be created and made available for download after viewing the presentation.  We look forward to delving into the world of ADCPs with you!  Speaker bio: Darryl Symonds started his career at Teledyne RD Instruments in 1984.  During his +35 years with the organization, Darryl served in numerous ascending roles including product technician and customer service manager before taking on the role of Director of the Marine Measurements Product Lines from 1999 – 2020. Through the years, Darryl accrued a vast and unique knowledge of Teledyne RDI’s Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) and Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) products, the markets that they serve, and the needs of their customers.  Although Darryl officially retired from Teledyne RDI in 2020, he as graciously agreed to continue to share his impressive knowledge, good humor, and distinctive curly locks with our customers via webinars and videos in our joint quest to educate and serve our global customers.
