New Inspection Class ROV for Underwater Inspections in Harsh Operational Conditions
As a renown mini-ROVs and unmanned solutions manufacturer since 2005, Subsea Tech is pleased to introduce its new inspection class ROV Tortuga, the ultimate vehicle for underwater inspections in harsh operational conditions. With a total 68 kgf forward thrust for only 43kg total weight, Tortuga offers an unrivalled thrust/weight ratio in its category and is able to operate in currents up to 4 knots, which brings new horizons for ROV operators.
To reach such performances, Subsea Tech R&D department worked on various technological innovations such as an hydrodynamic form factor combined to a small diameter tether (<10mm) which drastically reduce the drag of the system. The 4 horizontal thrusters are fitted with a unique azimuthal control system which allows them rotating on themselves to get the maximum thrust depending on the current direction. The ROV may automatically hold position, even in high current conditions thanks to a DP (Dynamically Positioning) mode controlled by an embedded inertial system. Last but not least, the Tortuga offers a fully integrated imaging sonar solution, for operations in low visibility conditions, with a dedicated bracket for a multibeam sonar (Blueview or Oculus) and a dedicated screen in the ROV control panel.
Tortuga mainly dedicates to offshore O&G, marine renewables and hydraulic infrastructures markets and may be of course used for many other applications (aquaculture, defence, shipping and harbours, marine sciences, etc.). Available in fiber optic tethered version, Tortuga allows long range inspections over several km in confined areas such as flooded tunnels, pipes, etc
